CityHook is a service designed and developed by a team of travel and tech enthusiast based around Europe. Our goal is to help everyday travellers start their journeys on the right foot. Thanks to the cooperation with hundreds of transportation services Worldwide we help you find the most efficient way to travel to and from airports. This tells the story about how CityHook came about.
In late 2011 co-founders Tommaso Solesin (@tommisole) and Kevin O’Shaughnessy (@okev) had the first idea to help passengers “find the best way between airport and city”. Today, we are a venture-backed, growing team based in Dublin and across Europe. We have started our journey by building a simple website and mobile app to distribute the right information about the first and last mile of our journeys.
Quickly after releasing V1.0 we bring our product to the main Travel and Startup conferences. ITB in Berlin first, then Milan, where we are finalist at the SMAU 2012 app contest. We are finalist at SeedCamp Paris 2012 in Paris, but we are not selected for their programme. But few weeks after, right as the 2013 starts, we are selected as part of the NDRC LaunchPad programme 2013 in Dublin, and later that year we become part of Wayra, the incubator programme run by Telefonica, and raised finance from Enterprise Ireland and Tribal.vc. The team is growing and a more refined product is brought to major events. As we work to build our international network we do not stop pitching to industry leaders and CEOs. We travel to the WebSummit 2013 in Dublin and to the PhocusWright Conference 2013 in Florida.
2014 sees the team facing new challenges. As the technology starts to become a real asset, the team decide to split the offer in a Business to Consumer and a Business to Business proposal. The technology behind CityHook is named Indigo.gt and it provides Airlines and Online Travel Agencies the commercial and technical network that powers CityHook.
With two different proposals, one for retailers and one for travellers, the team present on stage at the ITB 2014 Conference in Berlin. Over the summer the two co-founders present their idea of travel innovation at PhocusWright Europe 2014, at Travel Massive Milan June 2014 and at the Online Travel 3.0 2014 in Moscow.
The conference season is not yet over, and as the new technology is shaped, the team propose its innovation in London, WTM 2014, Los Angeles, PhocusWright Conference 2014 and New Orleans, Loyalty, Ancillary & Co-Brand Conferences 2014.
When 2015 kicks in, the team is running at 100 miles per hour. Kevin is on Stage at ITB 2015 few weeks before winning the runner up prize at the PhocusWright Europe 2015 and the first place prize at the Challengers 2015 in Barcelona, where we also pitched during the eShowBCN15 2015.
